Vietnam Birdrace lần thứ 2 là sự kiện kéo dài 2 ngày, mở rộng cho cả người quan sát chim và nhiếp ảnh gia, với nội dung đua chụp ảnh được nhiều loài chim nhất trong thời gian diễn ra cuộc đua. Sự kiện sẽ có hạng mục riêng dành cho thiếu nhi nhằm khuyến khích sự tham gia của thế hệ trẻ. Trước khi cuộc đua bắt đầu, sẽ có các buổi hướng dẫn để phổ biến thể lệ cho tất cả người tham dự. Các giải thưởng sẽ được trao vào ngày cuối cùng của cuộc đua. Các hoạt động bên lề sẽ làm phong phú thêm trải nghiệm của người tham gia, bao gồm: ra mắt sách và tọa đàm về bảo tồn chim hoang dã tại Việt Nam, hội thảo và chia sẻ kỹ thuật chụp ảnh chim, hội thảo khu vực về quan sát chim và bảo tồn thiên nhiên, và phiên đấu giá các tác phẩm nghệ thuật chủ đề chim để gây quỹ bảo tồn. Sự kiện còn hướng tới thu hút sự tham gia của học sinh tại tỉnh Lâm Đồng, đặc biệt là thành phố Đà Lạt, thông qua các hoạt động ngoại khóa như đi bộ quan sát chim có hướng dẫn và trải nghiệm giáo dục về bảo tồn thiên nhiên, nhằm truyền cảm hứng cho thế hệ bảo tồn tiếp theo.

Vietnam’s Mekong Delta is one of the most densely populated parts of the country. Formerly covered by vast areas of wetlands, the Delta’s environment is today heavily altered. However, our work shows that there are still areas of mangrove and coastal mudflats and mangroves where large congregations of migratory birds can be found. In fact, good numbers of the Spoon-billed Sandpiper (CR), Nordmann’s Greenshank (EN) and Great Knot (EN) visit to the wetlands of the Delta, together with tens of thousands of other waterbirds such as shorebirds, terns and pelicans. Join us on this webinar to learn about where the most important sites for migratory waterbirds are on the Mekong Delta, and what needs to be done to protect them, and the livelihoods of local people.

Under Phase II of the Project, we are seeking a project manager with a strong background in nature conservation and has experience with working with diverse stakeholders to implement conservation activities, in partnership with local people, scientists and Government agencies in the Mekong Delta. Over time, the project aims to strengthen engagement with local communities, improve awareness of migratory birds and wetlands, and secure some of Viet Nam’s most important areas of coastal wetlands. On our survey today (October 22, 2019), we found 2 Spoon-billed Sandpiper at Binh Dai, Ben Tre. It is first record at this location, previous records were in Ba Tri (2003) and Go Cong (2011-2019).
